CONSIGNMENTS
Village Books' consignment program is designed to highlight local authors and artists. If you are an author and your book is available for us to order from the wholesale distributor, Ingram, you don't need to worry about consignment. Your title(s) will populate to our website and we can easily order it for your fans!
Village Books is an inclusive bookshop that strives to create an atmosphere of community and belonging. We reserve the right to refuse a book or sideline items that do not reflect our core values.
Before requesting a consignment agreement with Village Books, keep in mind:

We do not accept spiral-bound books.

We do not accept books or sideline items with AI-generated stories, artwork or illustrations.

Upon sale, we pay 60% for a consignment title.

We agree to display books on a consignment basis for a maximum of 3 months. As books sell, we may request additional copies from you.

At the end of the consignment period, we will notify you of any unsold books and any payment accrued from book sales. We will either drop you a check in the mail, or will have it ready for pick up in the shop with any unsold books. Any books not picked up within 30 days of notification will be donated to a literacy organization.

We will pay only for items sold. Damaged or stolen items are the sole financial responsibility of the consignor.

We request in your media outreach that you link purchases on your website to Village Books' product page for your book.
Signing and/or Reading Opportunities
Typically events hosted by the bookshop are organized in conjunction with a publisher and are coordinated as demand for a title increases. While we love to support local authors, events have to be economically feasible for us in terms of staffing etc. and with the same respect, those events need to be successful for the author, and worth your time. As a result, we seldom host events for self- or indie-published authors, but we thank you for thinking of our shop.
